Over at Mudflats, AKmuckraker did a Wordle of La Palin’s State of the State address, so I thought I would do one of President Obama’s Inaugural Address.
What jumped out at me was “America Every New Nation Today Must Work Less.”
Now, I thought the point of the Wordle exercise was to get a general sense of what words are used most frequently in a piece of text. The problem is that smaller words — words used less frequently — being presented in a lighter/brighter color than larger words misleads the viewer, because the lighter/brighter color appears more prominent.
If I were designing the Wordle? All words of the same size would be of the same color, with gradations of shade to distinguish close sizes.
And I definitely would lose that brown background.
