I do not know what it is going to take for the mainstream to stop applauding and defending Republicans and their policies.
If I had not seen it happen, I would not know that there had been a presidential election in which the voters of this country repudiated — beyond any shadow of a doubt — the policies of the Republican party.
But pick up a newspaper, turn on the television or the radio and what do you hear?
“Democrats need to moderate themselves in order to get cooperation of Republicans.”
WTF??!?!?1?Q!
UPDATE (1/31/09): It’s hard to believe Republicans and their supporters could get any more stupid but, yes, they achieve new heights of stupid with each passing day.
Shred the Constitution? No problem! No tie in the oval office? Bad, bad president!
And that’s not enough stupid for the week — the rarely-right has a double dose for us.
The Republicans — who, you will remember, lost the November elections most decisively, up and down the ballot — are losing patience with President Obama. Why are they losing patience? Because his “economic recovery package that included few, if any, proposals from the minority party.”
The political party that took the American — and with it, the world’s — economy into the toilet has the temerity to complain that they are not running the agenda.
Well, boo freaking hoo.
I just hope that President Obama is paying attention here.
Attempting to engage Republican leaders is a mistake. It has long been obvious that they hold their party’s interests above their country’s interests.
Steve Benen has more coherent comment than I.
