Taka Takanashi (between 1918 and 1920)

(LoC) Madam Taka Takanashi, one of the delegates to the International Congress of Working Women, from Japan. Madam Takanashi is a professor in the Women’s University of Nippon but upon her return to Japan expects to relinguish her position so that she may devote her entire time to social work among the working women of her country.

At the second International Conference of Working Women, held in Copenhagen in 1910, Clara Zetkin, Leader of the ‘Women’s Office’ for the Social Democratic Party in Germany, proposed the establishment of International Women’s Day to celebrate women and advocate on their behalf.
