Federal Art Project, WPA, between 1936 and 1939

In yet another attempt to get the country to laugh, the RNC has rolled out Todd Herman as their new “director of new media.”

A failed An ex-radio talk show host, Herman “wrote the initial strategy and business plan for MSN Video” while employed in “a number of management positions with MSNBC.com and Microsoft.”

Called “the media guy” at Microsoft/MSN by AdAge Magazine, after five years he parted ways with the DFHs at Microsoft to pursue his dream.

“I have developed some patent-pending digital media technologies and methods in the area of news, film, and rhetoric. The project is called Three Purple Dots … it’s in relatively deep stealth mode.”

Medication relieving him of visions of Purple Dots, Herman went on to put together a small company to assist dead-enders in their efforts to aggregate every possible example of someone somewhere somehow saying something they don’t like.

The inspiration for SpinSpotter occurred several years ago when the founder’s mother asked the simple question, “How do I know if this news story is credible?” A difficult question to answer unless you’re passionate about journalism, have broken large chunks of ground in digital media, and count a number of venture capitalists as close, personal friends.

Jonah Goldberg is on SpinSpinnerSpotter’s “Media Advisory Board.”

But Herman’s putting that aside and sacrificing himself for his country, which country you are, as they say in court.

Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid and President Obama’s professional political staff show alarming signs of being hard-core authoritarian elitists convinced of their own might, wisdom and infallibility and their Neitzchian [sic] belief that if I only gave my daughter over to The State she’d be better for it …”

Oh dear.

How does Herman really feel about his new role with the RNC?

In his open letter on having this grave responsibility bestowed on him, Herman says he’s “thrilled” “honored and humbled,” “anxious,” “stunned” and “alarmed.”

For such a big role, I am no doubt too small but, with the help of a staff far smarter than me, and an energetic base of technology professionals, I will accept the steep learning curve.

Welcome to the Clown Car RNC, Todd Herman!
