Sarah Palin is insane.

No, let me be more specific.

Sarah Palin is a sociopath.

She has nominated a replacement for Talis “I have to go on vacation without letting anyone know in the middle of a legal uproar” Colberg.

It’s a guy named Wayne Anthony Ross. Well known in Alaska, heavily into the NRA and the Alaska Republican Party, he’s a defense attorney, having represented, among other luminaries, convicted felon Rep. Vic Kohring, a member of the Alaska Corrupt Bastards Club (nothing former about that membership — once a member, always a member), currently incarcerated somewhere in California.

Right.

Palin has picked the guy who defended a corrupt elected Alaska government official (among other things) for the state’s Attorney General. To defend her against charges of ethics violations, I guess.

Apparently Palin considers the Attorney General to be her personal attorney as George W. Bush considered everyone in the Justice Department to be his personal attorney. It must be a Republican thing.

And the fact that he lives in a house once owned by Mark Twain … well, it makes me want to shove a spoon handle up my nose.

UPDATE (4/14/09): Poor Jason Desantis has changed his mind and will continue working at AIG after all. It can’t be cheap to support importunate friends maintain that lifestyle. I guess his principles will just have to wait for a more convenient time.
